Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist operates medical imaging equipment that utilizes high-frequency sound waves to capture diagnostic images of human anatomy. This role is responsible for obtaining high-quality imaging, guiding patients through positioning for optimal views, and ensuring accurate documentation in patient records. The technologist must demonstrate proficiency with PACS, EPIC, and high-level disinfection procedures, and maintain compliance with all HIPAA standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for ultrasound exams and special procedures.
- Demonstrate proper imaging techniques to produce diagnostic-quality images.
- Consult with radiologists prior to discharging patients.
- Provide ultrasound guidance during physician-led procedures.
- Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions.
- Verify patient identification using two established identifiers.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and probes effectively.
- Label anatomical images correctly by body part and viewing plane.
- Utilize PACS to review, manage, and transmit images.
- Ensure timely image transmission after hours, as needed.
- Maintain competency in EPIC.
- Perform high-level disinfection of endocavity probes per policy.
- Maintain accurate records while protecting patient confidentiality.
