Software Engineer - Project Kuiper Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Project Kuiper is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Manufacturing systems engineering under Project Kuiper Prod-Ops is responsible for delivering software and frameworks that improve speed and quality of testing of satellite components. We partner with engineering and production teams to bring reliability and repeatability to our systems, improve throughput and accelerate the transition. We are looking for a software engineer with experience in building software development kits, creating mock services and simulators, and adding integrations with industry standard tools such as Test stand and Labview. We are looking for a candidate with hands on experience in programming languages like Python, Rust or Java and is familiar with AWS cloud services along with software & hardware interfaces. Key Job Responsibilities
Participate in all phases of software development lifecycle from requirements to implementation and deployment to operations. Collaborate with stakeholders such as factory planners and technicians to launch customer centric software solution that scale. Lead technical projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as satellite software and hardware engineering teams. Design flexible solutions for complex problems with multiple unknowns with exceptional performance & reliability. Integrate the software solutions that interface with test chambers, test racks & satellite components. Utilize AWS infrastructure and services such as Lambda, IAM, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IoT etc. Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture. About The Team
The Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MSE) team is responsible for building standardized, automated, and scalable manufacturing systems. Our mission is to transform engineering inputs into production-ready solutions in four critical areas: automated testing for chambers, calibration and provisioning of manufacturing systems, shop floor management tools, and optimized test station design and infrastructure. We act as the critical interface between engineering and production teams, ensuring seamless integration of software and hardware components in developing production-ready systems. We focus on delivering solutions that automate production testing processes, reduce cycle times, and optimize setup/teardown procedures, effectively addressing critical bottlenecks while ensuring consistent implementation across all production sites. Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
