We are committed to fostering a positive workplace culture and driving organizational success. We are seeking a skilled Senior HR Generalist to join our team and support our growing workforce.
SUMMARY:
The Senior HR Generalist will play a pivotal role in executing and enhancing HR strategies to support employee engagement, compliance, and organizational goals. This role requires a seasoned professional with expertise in HR operations, employee relations, and talent management, who can operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in downtown Akron, OH, classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore does not qualify for overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a given workweek.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance & Policy Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (e.g., FLSA,FMLA, ADA) and maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures, including the Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook. Strategic HR Partnership: Serve as the primary contact and resource for the Leadership team, providing strategic HR guidance, coaching, and support on workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational development. Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviews, and onboarding processes to attract top talent. Performance Management: Oversee performance review processes, provide coaching to managers on performance improvement plans, and support employee development initiatives. Benefits & Compensation: Administer employee benefits programs, conduct market salary analyses, assist in compensation planning to remain competitive in the Akron market, oversee payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate payments, and perform annual re-evaluations of plans for cost-effectiveness. Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management, resolving conflicts, conducting investigations, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Training & Development: Design and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and support leadership development. HR Metrics & Reporting: Analyze HR data (e.g., turnover, engagement) to provide insights and recommendations to leadership. Project Leadership: Lead HR initiatives such as diversity and inclusion programs, employee engagement surveys, or system implementations (e.g., Paycor upgrades), including special projects and additional duties as assigned. Offboarding & Separation: Maintain the offboarding process, conduct exit interviews, ensure proper documentation of performance issues, and complete separation checklists. Unemployment Claims Management: Direct or perform the unemployment compensation process, ensuring claims are handled accurately and timely to protect company funds and prevail in cases.

Skills:
Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, particularly in Ohio. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Proficiency in Paycor and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Proven track record in recruitment, employee relations, and project management. Budget management skills.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFUCATIONS:
High school diploma or GED and Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a generalist or senior generalist role. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
