Engineering Section Manager

for a critical role in our engineering organization to be responsible for managing a team and ensuring successful completion of projects. This is a dual role position, involving direct management of a talented team of high-performing multi-discipline engineers as well as project engineering leadership for technically advanced development programs to produce cutting-edge hardware and/or software products at the Xetron facility that support National Defense partners. The products produced at this facility support all domains of intelligence and defense battlespaces including land, sea, air, cyber, and space. Many of the problem-sets our customers expect us to solve do not have known solutions, so ingenuity is essential. Your direct management responsibilities will include (~20% of your time): Managing and guiding multi-discipline engineers including mechanical engineers

Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team

Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload of your direct reports

Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top-ranked engineering talent

Providing timely, constructive support and feedback to your reports on a regular basis

Completing semi-annual performance assessments of your team members

Motivating your team members (engagement) and facilitating regular meetings with them

Providing mentoring and career development to each team member

Coordinating training for each team member

Providing appropriate tools and resources for your team’s development activities

Your project engineering leadership duties will include (~80% of your time): Leadership of program technical execution in order to meet cost and schedule constraints

Program staffing for optimal execution

Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members

Working programs, proposals, and internally funded activities in a technical or leadership role

Risk-mitigation planning and execution

Strategic problem solving

Earned value management

Basic Qualifications: Candidate must have BS +9 years engineering experience, MS + 6 years engineering experience, PhD + 2 years engineering experience

A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role

US Citizenship is required

The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance (NG will sponsor)

Preferred Qualifications: Current, active Top Secret clearance

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Experience in developing custom RF systems

Experience as a technical lead, functional lead, or leadership in the military

Experience in multiple relevant technology areas

Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent

M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Salary Range:

$142,200 - $213,400 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
