We are looking for talented and highly-motivated individuals who demonstrate a natural desire to support the meaningful work of community oncologists and the patients we serve.Job Description:The Lead Medical Assistant exemplifies the compassion and care of the LACN mission and is responsible for gathering and documenting patient screening data, obtaining vitals, preparing charts, drawing labs, maintaining their area, assisting providers, and other various activities needed to ensure patient care is prioritized. This team leader will provide support in the training, supervision, and development of staff Medical Assistants. Leaders will participate and speak in morning huddles, check staff Medical Assistant notes to ensure proper documentation and oversee the lab to maintain compliance. This role will communicate regularly with LACN Leadership, and provide patients with safe, quality care, throughout their treatment and disease process, under the direct supervision of their Provider.Essential Functions:The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time with reasonable accommodations.Essential Functions:Daily Calibrate machines.Daily Check exam rooms.Daily Temperature Log.Daily Perform quality controls.Daily Dispense injections.Daily Process labs and send them out.Daily Check MA inbox, Task inbox, and TEAMs, email.Daily Restock and clean the lab area.Daily Assess medications and supply inventory.Daily Assist with bone marrow biopsies, perform injections, and blood draws.Daily Scan documents.Daily Prep charts (done the day before).Daily Update IOD spreadsheets.Daily Room patients and update: Vital Signs (daily), Medication Reconciliation (daily), Allergies (daily), Pain Scale (daily), Tobacco Screening (dated current year), and Depression Screening (dated current year).Daily Perform double-checks for other team members, to ensure medication accuracy.Daily Communicate with nurses regarding patients ready for infusion.Daily Document in MAR appropriately and concurrently with medication administration.Daily Clean exam rooms in between patients and clean and restock exam rooms at end of day.Daily Log out of all systems before the end of day.Daily Monitor MA workflows for proper documentation including MIPs, Vital Signs, Dosage Double Checks, and Proper Signatures/MAR documentation.Daily Assist with the closing of any discrepancies shown in OKTA or requested by Billing.Daily Communicate with IOD and OS regarding drug dispensing.Daily Delegate daily MA tasks and ensure teammates understand their duties (this doesn't make sense).Daily Assist with training, retraining, and guidance of staff MAs, ensure new staff MAs complete the training checklist and sign off (no apostrophe).Daily Participate in morning huddles and provide input on behalf of the MA team.Daily Anticipate physicians' needs and coordinate staff MA shift start and lunch breaks to ensure smooth clinic flow and prevent overtime.Daily Has a strong understanding of LACN workflows and protocols.Daily Direct the flow of patients from vital sign collection into the physician exam room to ensure a smooth workday.Daily Cultivate a strong, healthy, and positive clinic environment among patients, staff, and supervisors.Weekly Collaborate with clinic leadership to improve and update MA training guidelines and plans.Monthly Report progress, changes, challenges, and needs to clinic leadership while collaborating on solutions.Weekly Clean Piccolo machine filter.Weekly Check Cell-dyne reagents.Weekly Order supplies, B&B injection, inventory, and relay to team lead if supplies are needed.Weekly Check genetic kit testing supplies.Weekly Check sharp container fill levels.Weekly Check bone marrow biopsy supplies.Monthly Calibrate machines, reconcile temperature logs, and perform monthly quality checks.Monthly Perform Piccolo controls.Monthly Update and check the Cell-dyne binder.Monthly Follow-up with submitted genetic tests.Monthly Deep clean.Quarterly Check if MLE is due, reagent supplies check.Semi-Annual Full Cell-dyne re-calibration.Ongoing Complete training(s) on time, as assigned.Key Competencies:Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Demonstrates exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills.Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.Ability to seek out resources independently and work collaboratively.Ability to work productively and effectively in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent customer service skills.Dependable.Education and Experience:Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with certification.Current CPR certification.Excellent phlebotomy skills.Knowledge of medical laboratory procedures.Basic computer knowledge.3-5 years of Medical Assistant experiencePrevious Oncology/ Hematology experience (preferred)Additional Requirements:Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with occasional walking.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.Able to travel to satellite clinics when necessary.Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 pounds.Salary Transparency:Exact compensation may vary based on skills, education, certifications, experience, and location. Hourly Rate from $24.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour.
