Job Title: Senior Production Test Engineer – Optical Module

Our team is small but mighty, combining deep technical expertise with a bias for action. We believe in solving real-world problems with elegant engineering, and we’re growing fast.

Now, we’re looking for a Senior Production Test Engineer who’s excited to take ownership of building and scaling our test infrastructure from the ground up.

What You’ll Do:

As our go-to test engineering expert , you’ll be the bridge between R&D and manufacturing, ensuring our cutting-edge optical modules meet performance, quality, and reliability standards. You’ll wear multiple hats—designing test systems, automating processes, digging into data, and helping scale production from pilot to high volume.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design and Implement Test Infrastructure: Develop and deploy production test setups for optical transceivers (e.g., 100G/400G/800G), including electrical and optical testing at wafer, module, and final assembly levels.
• Automate and Scale: Create and maintain test automation scripts (Python, TestStand, etc.) that scale from engineering builds to volume manufacturing. Help define test strategies that evolve with product maturity.
• Analyze and Optimize: Use data to improve test yield, reduce cycle time, and eliminate bottlenecks. Leverage SPC, process capability studies, and deep dives into test results to drive improvements.
• Debug and Problem Solve: Lead root-cause investigations for test failures. Work hands-on with hardware teams to debug photonic/electrical issues at the component and system level.
• Collaborate Across Functions: Work closely with design, reliability, and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from NPI to production. Your input will directly influence product design for testability.
• Mentor and Lead: Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and help define best practices for test development and validation.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in electrical engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or similar.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in optical module testing, preferably in a high-speed transceiver or photonics-focused environment.
• Deep understanding of optical components and systems: lasers, modulators, photodiodes, transceivers, and high-speed interconnects.
• Proficiency with optical/electrical test tools: BERTs, optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, tunable lasers, high-speed oscilloscopes.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python (bonus: NI TestStand).
• Proven track record of bringing up test systems in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.
• Startup-ready mindset: scrappy, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable with ambiguity.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience with coherent optics, integrated photonics, or silicon photonics.
• Familiarity with standards like IEEE 802.3, OIF, or ITU.
• Exposure to contract manufacturing or overseas production ramp-up.
• Previous startup or small team experience.
