Quality Assurance Supervisor

Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred

Job Summary:

The QA Supervisor supports the Director of QA, Food Safety & Sanitation in developing, implementing, and enforcing Food Safety Programs. This role involves planning and directing activities related to quality standards, assessing food quality and safety, and leading initiatives to improve products and processes. The QA Supervisor also provides leadership to employees, participates in projects to enhance plant quality and safety, and ensures SQF compliance.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in food science or related field, or 5+ years of QA experience.
• Minimum 5 years in Food Manufacturing.
• Experience with USDA, FDA, or CA Dept. of Food & Agriculture guidelines.
• Preferred: SQF Certified Practitioner, experience with Kosher, Organic, and AIB programs.
• Leadership experience for 1-2 years.

Trainings/Certifications:

• Preferred: HARPC/PCQI Certification, SQF Implementation & Auditing, SQF Internal Auditing.

Essential Functions:

1. Support QA activities and assist the Director as needed.
2. Enforce company policies and procedures.
3. Oversee, train, and coach QA staff.
4. Conduct employee performance appraisals.
5. Manage raw materials policies.
6. Enforce Food Safety Program, including Metal Detection.
7. Review SQF Program, Food Safety Plans, and related activities annually.
8. Administer Weight Control, GMP, and other quality programs.
9. Verify compliance with third-party standards (SQF, AIB, NSF, etc.).
10. Maintain organized QA records.
11. Enforce Product Specifications and sample testing programs.
12. Oversee sanitation, pest control, recall, and hold/release programs.
13. Manage QA processes, perform audits, and product testing.
14. Promote a positive work environment and teamwork.
15. Ensure compliance with handling policies and safety regulations.
16. Train employees on material handling costs and safety.
17. Maintain employee relations and promote professional development.
18. Assist in developing and updating job descriptions.
19. Coordinate with Maintenance and Production departments as needed.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
