We're conducting a search on behalf of the Group Controller at an Annuities carrier in Houston who is looking to onboard a Director of Financial Reporting . This role is open due to the company's expansion, driven by significant resource investments from their parent company. The company has realigned its business model to focus on the most profitable segments, especially annuities, which have proven to be highly lucrative.

This is a great opportunity to join a visible management team that is scaling up the finance organization to support rapid growth in the carriers Annuities and PRT businesses. The carrier is targeting a $250BB balance sheet and is backed by a large asset manager, offering strong career progression options. Compensation ranges from $185,000 - $250,000 .

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure timely completion of financial reports.
• Assist in coordinating the month-end close process.
• Supervise and monitor the performance of four team members.
• Develop and implement process improvements and enhance internal controls to streamline financial reporting and strengthen the control environment.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and STAT.
• Work closely with other departments to facilitate data flow and ensure timely and accurate duties.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of financial reporting procedures and identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee the quality and accuracy of responses to audit inquiries to minimize follow-up requests.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting (preferred).
• Insurance experience (preferred).
• Big-four audit experience within the industry is helpful.
• GAAP & STAT experience.
• CPA is helpful.
