Our premier client provides water well and geothermal drilling services for residential clients in the MD/VA/DC are and performs commercial geothermal drilling and piping services across 21 states.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller to lead and manage their financial operations of their rapidly growing geothermal drilling and piping construction company. This strategic leadership role is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry regulations, supporting project financial reporting, and delivering timely, accurate financial information to senior leadership.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction accounting , with proven experience working in self-performing construction companies with revenues exceeding $50 million .

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller to lead and manage their financial operations of their rapidly growing geothermal drilling and piping construction company. This strategic leadership role is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry regulations, supporting project financial reporting, and delivering timely, accurate financial information to senior leadership.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction accounting , with proven experience working in self-performing construction companies with revenues exceeding $50 million .
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, job costing, payroll, and tax compliance
- Manage the accounting for over 200 pieces of machinery, autos, and equipment and detailed tracking and reporting of repairs and maintenance per asset
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Maintain accurate job costing and provide financial visibility for self-performed labor, equipment, and materials
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to support audits, tax filings, and financial reviews
- Forecast cash flow requirements and manage treasury activities
- Evaluate and improve accounting systems and processes, including construction-specific software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Intaact, Viewpoint, Procore)
- Provide strategic support to the CFO and executive team through budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a senior financial leadership role
- Construction industry experience required, with prior work at a self-performing contractor with revenues of at least $50 million
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, percent-complete accounting, and construction billing practices
- Familiarity with construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Intaact, Viewpoint, or similar
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong analytical abilities with a hands-on approach to problem solving
- Significant experience tracking machinery, equipment, and vehicle assets and associated loans, and tracking the repairs and maintenance of
- CPA designation preferred
- Experience with multi-entity and multi-state operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large and complex data sets
- Experience managing finance in a high-growth or fast-paced construction environment
- Experience in the Sitework or Mechanical Subcontractor trades is a plus
