Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, management of cardiac drips (no titration), non-invasive airway management, and telemetry. Description: Patients are admitted to the unit via direct admission from associated clinics, physicians' offices, urgent cares, or other hospitals and emergency room admissions. The patient population consists of intermediate-level and medical-surgical patients. Diagnoses may include dysrhythmias, CHF, acute onset stroke or stroke symptoms not requiring TPA or critical care, acute coronary syndrome, and myocardial ischemia. The environment is fast-paced with a focus on patient throughput while providing patient-centered care. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork. All patients are on telemetry and self-monitored by the RN. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4. The unit uses Epic for charting and Pyxis for medication management. Weekend shifts are scheduled every other weekend unless specified otherwise. Floating may occur in low census situations. Travelers are expected to work if one or two major holidays fall within their assignment period. If three major holidays occur, travelers are expected to work two of those holidays.
