Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted License: Must possess an active nursing license Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Experience with adult to geriatric patient populations Description: Patients are admitted via direct admission from associated clinics, physician offices, prompt cares, or other hospitals and emergency room admissions. The patient population consists of intermediate-level and medical-surgical patients. Patients may have diagnoses such as dysrhythmias, congestive heart failure, acute onset stroke or stroke symptoms not requiring TPA or critical care, and acute coronary syndrome or myocardial ischemia. This is a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient throughput while providing patient-centered care. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. All patients are on hardwire telemetry, and self-monitoring is conducted by the registered nurse. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with a total of 12 beds in the unit. Unit systems utilized include electronic medical records and medication dispensing systems. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend unless specified otherwise. Holiday coverage is required if major holidays fall within the assignment period. Candidates must comply with all requirements to ensure an on-time start. References from supervisory personnel are preferred for submission.
