Pay Information $2,601 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights (Every Other Weekend - Friday and Saturday Nights) Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP; prefer intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring Must-Have: Must have experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP). Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in cesarean sections. Must be capable of assisting with catching the baby and transitioning the baby. Candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered if they have substantial previous travel experience. Description: The unit is a birthing center with a total of 34 labor and delivery beds. There are 2 OR suites available for cesarean sections and 2 triage beds. The postpartum area has 14 beds. On average, there are 150 to 180 births per month, totaling approximately 2,133 deliveries in 2022. The nurse-to-patient ratios follow established guidelines. The required patient ratios are 1:2 for labor and delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets. RNs are required to titrate specific drips including magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin. The charge nurse does not take an assignment, allowing for management of the unit. One surgical tech is available 24/7, along with a patient care assistant for clerical duties on each shift. An obstetrician and hospitalist are in-house 24/7 to assist with triaging patients and handling emergencies. A neonatal nurse practitioner is also available around the clock in the nursery. An anesthesiology provider for OB cases is present 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment is available and typically assigned to family birth. Electronic fetal monitoring using a designated system is in place. Block scheduling is an option when requested in contracts. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holidays are rotated with permanent staff. When on standby, there is a 45-minute response time required. Floating is limited to mother-baby and postpartum within the same unit, with no floating to NICU or outside departments. Scrubs are provided, and a locker is available for personal items. Orientation includes compliance training and unit specific education. The management team values feedback and encourages adaptability to workflows and procedures. The facility has a fair cancellation policy for shifts.
