The position requires working three nights per week. The nurse will be responsible for providing care to neonates. Duties include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. The nurse will manage equipment and supplies in the unit. Experience with neonates less than 24-28 weeks is essential. Knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and management is required. Candidates must have skills in feeding techniques such as bottle, breast, and gavage. Placement and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes are also necessary. Infection control and isolation precautions must be strictly followed. The nurse will manage arterial lines and provide care for central lines. Experience with umbilical artery and vein catheters is important. Care for patients requiring IV vasopressors and surfactants is needed. Understanding of neonatal abstinence syndrome is required. Ventilator management experience is necessary, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BIPAP, and PEEP. The unit has a daily census with a capacity for 22 patients. Staffing follows a self-scheduling model with a patient ratio of 2:1 during nights and weekends. All time-off requests must be approved by management.
