Pay Information $1,983 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a Level II NICU setting License: Valid state license or compact license Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Previous charge experience Experience with patient ratios in a NICU Description: Perm candidates from other facilities are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months. The unit does not accept first-time travelers. Patient diagnoses include unstable newborns at 32 weeks and greater. The nurse will attend all deliveries, including high-risk deliveries. Special procedures required include breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, and CPAP/BiPap. The staffing ratio is 1:3. Float to postpartum and labor & delivery may be required. Special procedures include sedation, rapid sequence intubation drugs, and managing cooling/warming blankets. Experience with drains, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps is necessary. The nurse will assist with GYN surgeries, couplet care, and transition nursery tasks. Skills required include handling neonates (29-34 weeks), breastfeeding support, and isolation precautions. Experience with central line care, umbilical artery and vein catheters, IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids is essential. The nurse should be knowledgeable about neonatal abstinence syndrome and oxygen delivery systems.
