Senior News Assistant

About the Role
Our Newsroom Development & Support team leads complex and ambitious projects that span the entire newsroom. We are looking for a Senior News Assistant to support this team across a range of logistical and operational responsibilities. You will also support editors with research and administrative assistance so that they can focus on leading and advancing newsroom initiatives. This is a hybrid position, based in New York City, and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.
Responsibilities:
- Keep project home bases, training trackers, Library and databases organized and current.
- Assist with research efforts related to NDS projects.
- Keep internal NDS documentation updated in collaboration with NDS team members.
- Assist NDS team members in the production of training materials.
- Support training sessions and programs in coordination with the training leader.
- Support onboarding logistics for new hires.
- Assist NDS's newsroom support team as they guide newsroom members through digital processes, publishing tools, and related questions.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
- You will report to the Deputy Director of Newsroom Operations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. degree
- A collaborative attitude and the desire to work in a team toward common goals
- An eagerness to work on a team that values trust, transparency, collaboration and empathy as key workplace principles
- A passion for learning about new tools and journalism formats

The annual base pay salary for this role is between $80,952.15 and $82,000.00.
