PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe Quality Engineer demonstrates teamwork and commitment to the success of Owens Corning. The Quality Engineer is a recognized leader that demonstrates Owens Corning's values and a commitment to high performance. The Quality Engineer plans, strategizes and evaluates quality assurance process through examining the systems, measures and statistical techniques. S/he will participate in creating and analyzing operations and restrictions regarding services. Individual will participate in auditing, generating and executing training on quality assurance concepts and equipment. Quality Engineer will collaborate with other engineering business-partners within the Owens Corning organization, along with customers and suppliers. Reports to: Quality Leader (Milind Gharat)Span of Control: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Knowing the Asset Base & Manufacturing ProcessesContinuously builds an intimate insight and knowledge of fiberglass technical processes, production lines and their productsPassion for understanding what is necessary for the asset to be productive and the value that our current and future assets bring to the businessKnowing Our Customers Has the responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction is paramount in designing, implementing and maintaining processes and quality systems.Identifying and understanding the critical product characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality productDeveloping and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectationsSupporting experiments or trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet customer's fitness for useCustomer complaint support including service exceptions and claim dollarsResponsible for supporting investigations of all customer complaints, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions.Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities Safe, clean and environmentally friendly work environment, and becoming and maintaining to be compliant with company and local regulationEnsuring that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines ensure the safety of employeesBuilding a culture where safety is a true condition of employmentImplementing a personal safety action plan Leading and Developing Talent Provides leadership of all quality initiatives in the PlantLeads the development, implementation and evaluation of quality processes and procedures in the Plant, all working toward achieving the quality goals of the Plant and delighting the customerManaging the training of primary employees in the quality labTraining employees in process control proceduresWorks to develop and implement quality control plansWorks in a team environment where accountability for compliance of all quality systems and customer satisfaction is incumbent on both the leadership team and the individual.Partnering with maintenance to develop and implement total productive maintenance plans for equipment to ensure employee understanding and ownershipIndividual quality goals and objectivesExecutes/participates capital projects related to quality, TPM, Improvement projects or others as neededProvides QM Pillar Leadership for the QM Pillar team Driving Process ManagementDriving progress towards process optimization by studying and analyzing performance data then developing and deploying engineering solutionsPrepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsParticipate in Product Quality Planning (impact analysis, preliminary capability, FMEA, Quality Plan, training needs)Applies hands on technical troubleshooting skills to existing processes with quality problemsEnsures customer requirements are met by reviewing specifications and internal work instructionsDevelop and report metrics to drive improvement efforts, govern the training process, and oversee record retention and documentation controlJOB REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, preferably in chemical, mechanical, or material engineering A minimum of 1-3 years of technical experience in a variety of roles such as engineering, maintenance or manufacturingPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Six Sigma or lean manufacturing experience Familiar with ISO 9001 type quality systems Knowledge and experience in project management TPMKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Influence through personal power Ability to interact and lead to achieve objectivesStrong listening and comprehension skillsCollaborate and foster teamwork.
