Pay Information $2,398 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic EMR proficiency - Minimum of 2 years ER experience - Experience in Trauma Level 1-3 within the last 2 years Description: Start dates are not flexible. There is a 100-mile radius rule. Epic EMR proficiency is required; candidates must have experience within the last two years. No 48-hour guarantees. No blocked scheduling requests. No more than 5 days of requested time off. Must work 2 of 3 holidays which are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. The department is an Emergency Room with a trauma level of 3. The facility receives STEMI and stroke cases but will ship out if stroke intervention is required. There are 52 beds, including 4 trauma bays. There are 6 fast track beds. Triage is done in two quick look areas using ESI. ER holds are intermixed with the ER. There are no seclusion rooms. Security is in-house 24/7. On average, the ER treats 200 patients per day. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 for medical patients and 1:6 for fast track patients. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC is preferred. Common diagnoses include any and all emergency needs. Nurses must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room. Experience with trauma levels 1-3 is required within the last 2 years. Common drips include ICU gtts for hold patients, with ICU assistance if possible. There are varied shifts for medical providers and mid-levels, including pediatric board-certified professionals. There is no charge nurse on each shift, but the house supervisor can assist if needed. ED techs with two years of experience (EKG, vitals, blood draws, splints) are available on each shift. Respiratory therapy is assigned and available 24/7 for ABGs, nebulizer treatments, ventilators, and CPAP. RT equipment includes Glidescope and Hamilton and Phillips vents. RNs must read their own telemetry; there is also a monitor tech available. Dedicated CT and X-ray services are available in the ER, along with a transport team. ED techs can perform lab draws or RNs can draw from IV starts. Varied shift start times include 7 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, and 3 PM. Modified self-scheduling is in place. Weekend requirements include working 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block. Holiday requirements typically include 2 of the 5 holidays. Floating requirements include a shared schedule with a nearby facility, typically scheduled in advance, with infrequent last-minute floating. Scrub color is navy blue. Orientation consists of one general orientation, one day clinical/EPIC training, and one day on the floor. The cancellation policy allows for client cancellations equivalent to the weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment.
