Experience with post-cardiac cath and post-angiogram PTCA is required. Candidate should have experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias. Experience with procedural sedation administration is preferred. Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse. The nurse will be responsible for caring for patients with cardiac conditions including acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, congestive heart failure, unstable arrhythmias, and other cardiac disorders. The unit also receives patients in need of neurological care, such as post-stroke and surgical patients. This position involves working in an observation unit with a high patient turnaround, where the average stay is 36 hours or less. The nurse will be expected to manage 5 patients on average, but may have up to 6 or 7 during peak times, assisting with 1 or 2 patients from an LPN as needed. The nurse is also required to float within their scope to assist in similar units when necessary. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Candidate must have positive teamwork skills and a willingness to collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams. Experience with various special procedures such as cardioversion, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and paracentesis is preferred but not mandatory.
