BLS & ACLS certification is mandatory. NRP is required. AWHONN certification for intermediate electronic fetal monitoring is necessary. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience. Experience with Cerner documentation is required. The patient population includes individuals of childbearing age, pregnant individuals starting from 17 weeks gestation, laboring individuals, and those scheduled for procedures such as C-sections, external cephalic versions, and cerclage. Triage issues will also be addressed in this role. Activities on the unit include admissions, discharges, transfers, pre-operative care, and deliveries (both vaginal and C-section). Common equipment used in Labor and Delivery includes fetal monitors and Cerner and Fetalink documentation systems.
