Pay Information $2,025 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Critical Care training - 2 years CVICU or CVRU experience - Passion for surgical heart care - High energy, upbeat personality Description: This is a 19-bed mixed unit providing critical care. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1, depending on patient acuity. Holdover downgraded patients may have a ratio of 1:3. The team includes highly trained charge nurses ready to assist with any issues. An educator will be available to guide you through your orientation process. The unit consists of 13 day shift RNs and 11 night shift RNs, along with a nurse aide on all shifts. Approximately 850 heart surgeries are performed annually. Core nurses are trained in critical care, heart care, recovery, and device management as they progress in their careers. An ECMO team supports patients as needed, along with regular use of Impellas, IABPs, and LVADs. This unit provides high acuity care in a friendly atmosphere dedicated to excellent patient outcomes. The unit is equipped with GE monitors and a Cerner EMR system. Typical procedures performed include: - IABP management - Impella management - Hemodynamics - Frequent patient ambulation - Chest tube removal - Pacer wire removal - LVAD care supported by the team - Intubation and extubation The ideal candidate is a high-energy, friendly nurse who values continuous learning and possesses critical care and cardiac skills. Required certifications include ACLS. Floating may occur to all ICUs and stepdown areas as needed. Dress code requires navy blue or white scrubs, nursing shoes, and hair off the shoulder. Fake nails are not permitted. Nurses are expected to arrive ready for work no earlier than 7 minutes before or after the shift start. Overtime must be approved by nursing management. Guidance is encouraged for new procedures that have not been previously performed by the nurse. Weekends and on-call duties are every other weekend.
