Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a
Senior Project Engineer
on behalf of our client, a leader in building services, integrated security, and equipment distribution. This position plays a critical role in the success of complex design-build projects by providing advanced technical leadership, supporting engineering design, project development, and performance analysis for HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
Key Responsibilities: Lead technical development and design for large-scale building systems projects (HVAC, controls, lighting, etc.)
Conduct site audits to assess current facility conditions and equipment
Perform heating/cooling load calculations, zone airflow, equipment sizing, and energy modeling (using tools like Trane TRACE 700)
Select equipment and define basis of design for project scopes
Lead technical reporting, submittals, and RFI processes
Manage project documentation, drawings (AutoCAD, Revit, Visio), and subcontracted engineering work
Analyze data logging and performance trends to identify system inefficiencies
Develop control sequences and energy-saving solutions
Interface with project managers, sales, and clients to align scope and expectations
Participate in commissioning, troubleshooting, and post-implementation validation
Lead utility rebate and incentive applications for qualifying energy projects
Ensure compliance with all building codes and safety standards
Support construction pricing, estimating, and project administration
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain project schedules and budgets
Requirements Include:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in project engineering with a focus on building systems and energy analysis
Skills: Advanced proficiency with Trane TRACE 700, TRACE 3D Plus, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office
Strong project management, data analysis, and system troubleshooting capabilities
Familiarity with Revit, Visio, MS Project, Procore, and MS Dynamics SL is a plus
Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license required
CEA, CEM, or PEM certifications are a plus
Valid Driver's License required
Knowledge: Deep expertise in HVAC system design, building envelope analysis, and equipment selection
Strong understanding of energy modeling, control sequences, utility incentives, and site audit methodologies
Key Competencies: Strong technical and analytical thinking
Excellent verbal and written communication
Detail-oriented with project ownership mentality
Customer-focused with strong relationship-building skills
Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
