Search Leaders, LLC
Our client is a specialty engineering firm known for designing and building complex kinetic and mechanized architectural systems. Their work is featured in prominent public and commercial spaces where large moving structures must operate with precision and reliability. Combining mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering under one roof, they provide end-to-end solutions from concept through fabrication and installation. All the while maintaining tight control over quality and performance. Their in-house manufacturing capabilities and experience with heavy steel systems set them apart in the industry.
Position Responsibilities:
Our client is seeking a curious and driven Structural Engineer interested in stepping beyond the conventional. The role offers the chance to contribute to one-of-a-kind installations seen by a global audience—many of which involve motion, interaction, and unique performance challenges. You’ll be involved from the earliest design stages through to commissioning, offering exposure to a full project lifecycle. Level and scope of responsibility will be matched to your experience.
This role requires an individual who can take full ownership of their designs—balancing innovation with engineering rigor, using building codes and judgment to develop cost-effective, safe, and functional systems. You’ll be an integral part of project teams, working on design, procurement, fabrication oversight, field support, and testing of dynamic structural systems.
You’ll also provide direction to cross-disciplinary teams, evaluating inputs and ideas while solving structural challenges with a strong foundation in technical analysis. In many cases, established templates don’t exist, so creativity and sound judgment are key.
Discipline-specific responsibilities:
Early-stage structural layout and concept development
Estimation of materials and weight during the proposal stage
Detailed structural calculations and modeling
Design documentation and production of construction drawings
Site and shop inspections for quality and compliance
Staying updated with applicable engineering standards and codes
Serve as client liaison for technical discussions
Develop and manage design budgets and timelines
Oversee project execution and coordinate internal design teams
Participate in milestone reviews with clients and collaborators
Ensure coordination between structural and other disciplines (electrical/mechanical)
Support field implementation and prototype validation
Provide input for maintenance documentation and project closeout
Visit vendors and manufacturing partners to inspect progress and alignment
Occasionally contribute to business development through technical presentations, writing, or media
consultants, and other project team members

B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 5+ years relevant experience; or M.S. with 3+ years
E.I.T. certification
Experience with structural modeling and finite element analysis
Familiarity with building codes and design standards relevant to structural work
Hands-on proficiency in software such as SAP2000, StaadPro, Risa3D, SolidWorks, and similar tools
Confidence in making and defending complex design decisions
Strong self-management and organizational skills
Excellent communication across teams and with clients
Some travel (up to 5%) for installation support or site coordination
Preferred Requirements:
M.S. in Structural or Civil Engineering
Professional licensure (P.E. or S.E.)
Exposure to fabrication, machining, or prototyping environments
Interest or experience in mechanical systems and interdisciplinary problem-solving
Experience applying judgment to non-standard engineering challenges
Reasons to Apply:
