Structural & Code Calculations Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in structural and code calculation packages for engineered process equipment. This role focuses on producing accurate, review-ready calculation packages supporting the design and fabrication of fired and indirect heaters, thermal equipment, and skid-mounted systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop complete structural calculation packages for skid-mounted and standalone equipment
Perform structural analysis using
RISA-3D
(preferred)
Evaluate equipment frames, skids, lifting, shipping, wind, seismic, and operational loads
Ensure compliance with applicable structural codes and project specifications
Code & Mechanical Calculations
Prepare code calculation packages using
COMPRESS
(preferred)
Perform mechanical and thermal calculations for heat medium heaters, waterbath heaters, regeneration heaters, thermal oxidizers, and hot oil circulation skids
Apply ASME, API, and applicable international codes and standards
Piping & Stress Analysis
Perform piping flexibility and heat stress analysis using
CAESAR II
(preferred)
Evaluate nozzle loads, thermal expansion, and piping support requirements
Coordinate piping stress results with vessel and structural design
Documentation & Coordination
Produce organized, auditable calculation packages for client, third‑party, and regulatory review
Coordinate with drafting, project management, fabrication, and inspection teams
Respond to technical comments and RFIs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
Experience preparing engineering calculation packages
Strong understanding of mechanical and structural fundamentals
Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
RISA-3D
for structural analysis
Experience with
COMPRESS
for code calculations
Experience with
CAESAR II
for piping stress analysis
Experience with fired heaters, indirect heaters, or skid-mounted process equipment
Familiarity with API 560 and related heater standards
