Description Job Title: Substance Use Counselor Department: Substance Use Program Reports to: Carlos Freytes Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Job Location: Chicago Metropolitan Area Salary Range: $35,000 to $42,000 Dependent on certification and experience. Position Description The Substance Use Counselor works within a multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic and rehabilitative services, including counseling, case management, and dual-diagnostic treatment. The role involves addressing treatment needs such as crisis management, medication and mental health treatment, benefits access, and support services.

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct client services, including treatment planning, therapy, crisis intervention, and referrals.
Conduct group sessions weekly.
Offer HIV counseling and testing as required.
Monitor toxicology screens and collaborate with medical staff.
Participate in on-call crisis services and team meetings.
Maintain accurate electronic records and adhere to privacy regulations.
Engage in supervision and community agency linkages.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be certified as an ICB Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) or obtain within two years.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience may substitute.
Spanish fluency and bicultural skills are highly preferred.
