Global chemical company at a small plant 70 person, lots of opportunity for a self-starter. Plenty of support, but you can run your own show. Find work, find something to fix and improve. 60% fixed equipment and 40% rotating. There is also a new robot packaging arm for their dry goods. The Maintenance and Reliability Engineer is responsible for driving

reliability excellence and managing equipment lifecycle strategies at

the Port Neches site. This role will support daily operations,

troubleshoot issues, and develop strategies that align with operational

goals, focusing on both cost savings and enhancing plant reliability.

The role is 70% strategic and 30% tactical, requiring collaboration

across teams to improve processes and ensure equipment integrity.

Responsibilities

- Act as the lead engineer for asset outages, developing and

overseeing scope.

- Analyze equipment performance data to identify reliability risks and

develop strategies to mitigate failures.

- Serve as backup for the Technical Service Manager and assist in

urgent operations or maintenance matters.

- Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and

Effects Analysis (FMEA) for equipment failures.

- Lead and optimize the operation of both rotating and fixed

equipment, developing reliability metrics (MTBF, KPIs) and

reporting.

- Ensure adherence to company Principles, Life Saving Rules, and other

site safety guidelines.

- Oversee mechanical engineering responsibilities for Management of

Change (MOC) and ensure regulatory compliance (LDAR, etc.).

- Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, and maintenance work

by collaborating with cross-functional teams.

- Lead investigations of equipment failures and provide

recommendations to the maintenance team for solutions.

- Develop and maintain reliability reports, KPIs, and mechanical

integrity programs.

- Evaluate reliability factors through testing and provide oversight

for repairs at supplier or repair facilities.

Qualifications

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

- Minimum 3 (7+ ideal) years of experience in a chemical manufacturing

environment, focusing on reliability or field engineering in

maintenance.

- Proficiency in preventive/predictive maintenance tools and

reliability methodologies (FMEA, RCFA, MTBF).

- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and

regulatory compliance for LDAR.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering

concepts to resolve plant issues.

- Familiarity with chemical industry best practices, including safety,

design, and process control
