Located in the heart of the Coachella Valley, you have access to resort-style living and world-class amenities throughout Southern California. Performs a wide variety of functions including chart analysis, scanning/indexing, release of information, medical record reviews/audits, Epic MyChart, Epic work queue management, investigating/troubleshooting issues related to HIM workflows, and birth registry support. This position may also specialize in documentation related to patient financial services workflows. Job Description: Education: Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree Licensure/Certification: N/A Experience: Required: Three (3) years of experience with medical records in a healthcare setting Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. Performs birth registry functions as needed (excludes PFS specialists). Assists HIM Manager with record retention and destruction initiatives. Maintains medical records chart room in an organized fashion. Coordinates and tracks Iron Mountain records. May perform duties such as chart analysis, scanning, and indexing when assigned. Researches documentation issues and is able to answer any questions physicians may have about their deficiencies and how to access assignments/complete deficiencies. Provides daily reports to hospital personnel/departments on incomplete records and physician suspension according to procedure. Prepares physician notification/suspension according to procedure. Performs release of information functions as needed, and assists HIM Manager in review and management of specialty records such as behavioral health, addiction medicine, and billing requests. Works Epic MyChart inquiries, troubleshoots, investigates issues and requests, and responds to patients. Works with HIM leadership to troubleshoot HIM workflow issues such as Epic interface error work queues. Repetitive bending, reaching, and lifting. Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have multi-tasking skills. Capability to follow and give directionverbal and written. Medical terminology, anatomy/physiology knowledge. Ability to file alphabetically, numerically, and using terminal digit filing. Technical knowledge of medical records processing in various electronic record systems including Epic and other legacy systems. Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and completing tasks. Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of leadership, medical staff, and patients, as needed. For PFS specialists only: Validate the accuracy of batch log and batch date. Ability to investigate and troubleshoot HIM workflow issues. For PFS specialists only: Working knowledge of PFS document types such as appeal/denial correspondence, explanation of benefits, and day folder batch process.
