Job Description Job Description: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
General Description: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Obstetrics department. The RN will provide direct patient care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum, as well as care for newborns. This role is crucial in ensuring all aspects of maternal care are met, requiring both clinical expertise and a warm, supportive presence for patients and their families.
Responsibilities: - Conduct patient assessments and monitor the labor process. - Prepare delivery rooms and assist in surgical preparations for C-sections and inductions. - Deliver patient care during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum, including newborn care and patient education. - Document nursing care accurately and comprehensively. - Provide emotional support and coordinate patient transfers as needed. - Administer IV medications while adhering to infection control standards and OB department policies. - Maintain knowledge of obstetric equipment and practices.
Accountability: This position reports directly to the Birth Center Manager and works collaboratively within the healthcare team to ensure high standards of patient care.
Special Demands: - Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and lift heavy objects. - Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
Qualifications: - Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Colorado RN licensure. - Certifications: Current CPR certification required; Neonatal Resuscitation Certification and ACLS must be obtained within one year of employment. - Experience: Preferred 4 years of experience in Obstetric care. - Skills: - Knowledge or interest in labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursing care essentials. - Understanding of sterile techniques and infection control. - Ability to remain effective under stress and communicate well with diverse populations.
Working Environment: This is a full-time position, involving 36 hours per week with a 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM schedule. Flexibility to rotate shifts and areas is required based on staffing needs, and on-call duties may be part of the role.
