Executive Director for Student Support & Advocacy
— Location: Main Campus - UCR. Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Category: Student Affairs and Advising. Salary: $126,700 - $218,200. Full-time (100%). Organization: Health Wellbeing and Safety. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Health, Well-being, and Safety (HWS), provide strategic leadership for the HWS organization. This role oversees the financial operations and human resource management of key units within HWS, including the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC), Basic Needs, and Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARE). Advocate for and advance the strategic vision of HWS, fostering collaboration within the organization, across the campus, and with external community partners; contribute to the integration of well-being, advocacy, retention, and student-success strategies throughout the student experience. Guide the development and execution of HWS operational and growth strategies; drive operational efficiencies and ensure team alignment with the HWS Collective Impact Model. Maintain a dynamic, empowering leadership style; advocate for the division's strategic goals while cultivating relationships and securing support for HWS initiatives within the organization, across the campus, and with external partners. Demonstrate collaborative, solution-oriented leadership with a commitment to ethics, diversity, and inclusion; inspire teams, mentor emerging leaders, and drive innovative solutions that enhance the impact and effectiveness of student advocacy and support services. Make decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure achievement of objectives including operational and budget processes, staffing, finance, HR, IT, and space planning with division-wide impact; collaborate with ASSET Senior Director of Financial & Business Operations and Director of Human Resources on recommendations for services, budget, organizational structures, and HR actions for SDRC, Basic Needs, and CARE. Interact with higher-level management on controversial situations, negotiations, and policy development to carry out the department's mission for faculty and students. Other duties as assigned. Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Masters, Doctorate, or Terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher education and progressive administrative responsibility. Experience Requirements
8 - 13 years of related experience. Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Special Conditions
Exercise the utmost discretion in managing sensitive information learned in the course of performing duties; safeguard employee and student records, health and patient records, financial data, strategic plans, proprietary information, and any other sensitive information; share on a limited basis and follow data protection and privacy policies and laws. Minimum Requirements
Excellent ability to establish metrics for department and employee goals. Excellent project management skills, including the capability of managing capital projects. Excellent collaboration and persuasive skills in sensitive situations; strong conflict management. Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll. Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, motivate and influence others; commitment to high standards of customer service. Very strong ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution. Demonstrated effectiveness and sensitivity to a multicultural environment and a commitment to campus-wide educational equity and retention efforts. Demonstrated leadership in planning, implementing, evaluating, and advocating for a wide range of student-oriented programs with a student-centered approach. Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. Evidence of successful partnerships with the broader community. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges facing HSI and AANAPISI campuses and higher education today, and the ability to address them in a large comprehensive university with positive outcomes. Demonstrated record of supporting student success strategies that foster a holistic student-centered learning environment, increase retention and graduation rates, and address issues of access, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Demonstrated success in strategic planning that fosters collaborative work with thought leaders and other stakeholders to identify priorities and develop strategies and tactics for achieving them.
