Waymo's Compute Team is tasked with a critical and exciting mission: We deliver the compute platform responsible for running the fully autonomous vehicle's software stack. To achieve our mission, we architect and create high-performance custom silicon; we develop system-level compute architectures that push the boundaries of performance, power, and latency; and we collaborate closely with many other teammates to ensure we design and optimize hardware and software for maximum performance. We are a multidisciplinary team seeking curious and talented teammates to work on one of the world's highest performance automotive compute platforms.
In this hybrid role, you will report to a Staff Hardware Engineer.
You Will
Architect, design, and build PCBAs (schematic capture, simulation, board layout) Design and execute validation testing plans for boards and systems Debug and triage units from the field Own board and system bring-up Create and modify testing software
You Have
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years PCB design experience - schematic capture, board layout, manufacturing, test/debug Delivered at least one project from prototype phase into mass production Experience with hardware validation cycles, debug and measurement methods Experience with lab bring-up, debug of complex electronic systems, and manufacturing testing processes Familiarity with: Computer architecture and networking Digital communication buses, such as CAN, I2C, SPI, MIPI, DDR, PCIe
We Prefer
8+ years PCB design experience Delivered multiple projects to mass production Experience designing for automotive environments Background designing highly complex boards, such as high-performance servers or high-speed networking hardware Familiarity with Cadence PCB CAD tools such as Cadence DE-HDL Familiarity with Python, Linux and C++ environments
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
