What To Expect Tesla is looking for a highly skilled design manager who is passionate about our mission to join our North American R&D Infrastructure team. In this role, you will own and drive the full design and engineering efforts for construction and infrastructure development projects from concept to build in the LA area and across the U.S. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to identify barriers, and the capability to lead cross-functional teams to execute quickly and with high quality. The environment is demanding and fast-paced, so self-motivation and discipline are essential. This position supports a new program and requires an entrepreneurial mindset capable of working in a dynamic setting.
What You'll Do
Organize and manage construction design packages, reviews, and deliverables for all phases of construction.
Communicate effectively across teams including Construction, Facilities, Workplace, IT, EHS, and Project Controls to ensure project alignment.
Manage stakeholder requests and translate requirements into project deliverables and schedules.
Understand various project delivery methods and develop strategies for design, engineering, and permit packages.
Implement innovative design methodologies and oversee the full design and engineering efforts from concept to delivery.
Support onboarding of consultants, including RFPs, invoicing, and team oversight.
Apply lean construction principles and use BIM for integrated design processes.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related experience.
At least 7+ years managing complex design projects with heavy MEP scope for R&D facilities, workplaces, and infrastructure.
CA RA or AIA license preferred; Project Architect experience is a plus. PE license is also preferred.
Strong project management skills, especially managing multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with BIM software including Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Proficiency with project management software like PlanGrid or Procore.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

Compensation Expected salary ranges from $100,000 to $216,000 annually, plus bonuses and benefits. Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and other factors. Details will be provided upon offer.
