Overview
Detox Counselor (Part-time)
role at
The Salvation Army Southern California . Hours are 2:30pm to 10:30pm, weekdays and weekends. Under the supervision of the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Detox Counselor is responsible for providing Social Detox clients with the clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs.
Responsibilities
Provide screening, admission, discharge, and referral services to Detox clients.
Provide individual counseling and conduct alcohol education and skill-building sessions designed to motivate Detox clients to seek treatment.
Handle crises and client issues for all ATS clients.
Qualifications
Minimum of one-year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA.
Must demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master’s degree in behavioral health science.
Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies.
Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons; function as a team member; respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises; and keep accurate records.
Must have current CPR/First Aid Training.
