The City of Tigard's Police Department is currently recruiting for a Police Records Specialist to join their team. This position performs a variety of customer service functions applicable to police records release and maintenance. This role also maintains and updates police records according to established policies and procedures. Performs technical and records management duties in support of Police Department staff. Utilizes specialized computer systems and applications. Provides customer service to the public, outside agencies, and Police Department staff including processing, maintaining and releasing police records. Maintains police records including tracking and filing reports, redacting confidential information as required, and purging records and files. Responds to information requests regarding department policies, procedures, and regulations, including responding to complaints, and requests for service in person and by phone. Performs a variety of administrative support and clerical duties, including answering phone calls and calls for service; distributing incoming mail; filing, copying, and distributing documents; and maintaining filing systems. Assists police officers by phone, two-way radio, mobile data terminal, and in person by providing information such as addresses, case details, warrants, license plate registrations, stolen property, and driving records. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND Two (2) years of varied administrative support experience preferably in a law enforcement environment. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a LEDS certificate. Supplemental Information

Union Representation: TPOA Retirement: This position does not fall under PERS retirement but does participate in the city's 401 (A) and 457 (b) retirement plans. Schedule: There are two working shifts: Morning shift from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. or swing shift 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Four days a week; 10 hours per day. This position will likely work one weekend day each week, either Saturday or Sunday. Schedules are bid based on seniority. Our Police Records Unit is open seven days each week from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. How to apply: Please apply online. We do not accept applications via email.
