Mechanical Engineer IV

The Mechanical Engineer IV is responsible for the design and engineering of HVAC and mechanical utilities for buildings. This role requires managing multiple complex tasks, establishing priorities, and directing the work of others. The position involves overseeing the Mechanical discipline scope of work and managing budgets across all project phases, sizes, and levels of complexity. Coordination with internal and external architects and engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers is essential. Responsibilities: Oversee the Mechanical discipline scope of work and manage the discipline budget across various project phases. Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers. Execute or supervise tasks such as site selection, master planning, commissioning and startup, load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, and design reports. Direct design activities for studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Lead field surveys, resolve non-compliant conditions, and develop construction specifications for complex projects. Provide advanced support for construction activities, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and construction progress reports. Conduct quality checks of documents, ensuring technical verification of design calculations and documentation. Mentor less experienced Mechanical Engineers and Designers. Lead advanced project system design programming and master planning. Essential Skills: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. Professional Engineer registration in good standing. Advanced experience with engineering calculations and designing HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping systems. Proficiency in applying mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience in Life Sciences, Biotech, Laboratory, or Food & Beverage industries. Advanced knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office suite. LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design accreditation or experience. Experience with industry standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, and OSHA. Capability to conduct advanced field surveys and support field reporting. Experience with Revit plugins like Enscape and Unifi, and building parametric workflows using Dynamo, Grasshopper, and Rhino. Proficiency in cross-discipline project team coordination and coordination with construction partners. Ability to develop training presentations and travel for client development and project execution. Work Environment: This role is based out of Cary, NC and involves working in a dynamic, collaborative environment with advanced technologies and equipment. The position may require travel for client development, project execution, and training opportunities. Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Cary, North Carolina.
