Quality Assurance Engineer
Actalent is currently seeking a Quality Engineer in Allentown, PA. Qualified candidates will have experience with automotives, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison with customers and vendors to ensure quality expectations are met, leading and managing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives, performing statistical analysis and utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) software to monitor and improve processes, ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 standards, overseeing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and submissions, and using Microsoft Office tools effectively for reporting and communication. Operate basic inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers with precision. Apply structured problem-solving techniques including 8D and 5 Why analysis. Work independently with minimal supervision, including remote or offsite oversight. Travel up to 25% as needed for audits, supplier visits, or customer support. Essential qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical experience, hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, and ISO 9001 systems, proficiency in statistical analysis and SPC software, and skilled use of basic inspection equipment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities using 8D and 5 Why methodologies are required. Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously. Preferred skills and experience include prior supervisory or team leadership experience, experience in the fastener industry, familiarity with automotive or heavy truck manufacturing environments, experience working with ISO and IATF 16949 management systems, knowledge of gage calibration and related software, proficiency with tools such as Optical Comparator, Hardness Tester, and Plug Gages, understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles, and experience conducting quality system or supplier audits. This is a highly visible, hands-on role where you'll be embedded in daily operations. You'll be expected to engage directly on the production floor to identify issues, recommend corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement. As the on-site engineering lead, you'll have the autonomy to influence quality decisions and contribute meaningfully to the company's strategic growth. The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
