Disability Van Service Driver

Auto equipment operators drive passenger vans under the supervision of the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) Transit Manager and Assistant Transit Managers. These transportation services may be fixed route, pre-booked, or on-demand. The primary purpose of the position is to safely transport and provide excellent customer service to campus affiliates, staff, faculty, and students who are required to travel on campus and between campus sites to fulfill their work and school related obligations. The budgeted salary for this role is $25.00/hourly. The position is available for two types of appointments: Partial-Year Career (10 months) 40 hours/week or 100% Full Time, Full Benefits and Limited (6 months w/possibility of extension) 16 hours/week or 40% Part-Time, The Limited position is not eligible for benefits. The work location is UC Santa Cruz Main Campus. The job duties include 85% - Operation of Vehicles and Transporting of Passengers, and 15% - UCSC Policies and Safety Procedures. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of driving laws, and effective communication skills. Preferred qualifications include general knowledge of State, Federal and University policies and procedures pertaining to vehicle codes, accessibility requirements and vehicle safety. Special conditions of employment include passing a pre-employment criminal history background check, employment misconduct disclosure process, and possessing a valid license to drive in the state of California. The selected candidate will be required to work all scheduled hours on-site, including a variable schedule including evenings and weekends. The position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and requires compliance with UC compliance training and vaccination policies.
