Meals Delivery Driver
Under general supervision, the Meals Delivery Driver delivers meals to homebound senior citizens on a daily basis and provides assistance and support. Observes, evaluates, and reports any changes in the clients' condition or behavior, and maintains accurate reports of daily activity. Environmental factors include work in a commercial kitchen work environment and outdoors when driving to delivery sites. Physical requirements include frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling fully-loaded meal bags weighing up to 50 pounds. Work situation factors include competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies. This initial posting will be used to fill a part-time, contract, on-call positions but may be used to fill multiple vacancies to include positions that are regular, or contract and may be full-time, part-time, or temporary. Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. but schedule may vary depending on need. This position is graded CN03. Duties and Responsibilities
Delivers meals based on assigned route; ensures all clients are supported and reviews client roster; delivers meals to homebound senior clients on a daily basis, adhering to health code and nutrition policy standards; prepares special storage bags and trays for use in packing meals. Assists with meal packaging, observing clients in their surroundings, cleaning of vehicles, reporting relevant information regarding route, and recording/reporting daily route counts. Follows and adheres to all health and safety standards for meal handling and delivery. Delivers donation envelopes weekly and collects any donations received; completes financial reports required and sends locked bag to the Nutrition Office for deposit to be made; washes and cleans bags and other delivery equipment at the completion of the final delivery; ensures proper safety and sanitation rules are followed at all times. Performs daily required pre-run maintenance check on vehicle; maintains assigned delivery mini van in clean and safe condition and reports vehicle maintenance problems immediately to Supervisor; performs temperature test on test meal after last meal is delivered to ensure conformance with safe temperature rules. Assists the Program staff in various tasks to ensure the program goals are met; assists kitchen/office staff as necessary and may run various errands as needed. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED AND one (1) year experience in customer service or related work. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy. Some experience working with the elderly is desirable. Licenses/Certifications include a valid Class D driver's license, an acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policies, CPR and First Aid training upon employment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are desirable. Food Handler's permit is desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
