Harris County Precinct One is looking for a GIS Analyst! Essential Duties and Responsibilities include developing and maintaining comprehensive Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, researching and compiling information from a variety of sources to develop standardized data for incorporation into the GIS, and developing user-friendly applications and screen menus to support both GIS users and non-users. Key Areas of focus for the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis include advancing a more effective, fair and equitable criminal justice system, furthering economic justice, equity, and opportunity for all Harris County residents, ensuring equitable outcomes in health and access to quality, affordable healthcare, fighting for environmental and climate justice, equitably investing in developing and maintaining resilient infrastructure and transportation for the 21st century, building and defending voting rights and a democracy that ensures equitable representation, and progressing equity and social and racial justice as common threads through all areas of public policy and public service. Full-time | Regular Work hours for this position are typically 8-hours, 5 days per week with occasional after-hours and/or weekend work. For emergency events, additional work hours are expected and may include up to 24-hour shifts and 7-day work weeks. This position includes standard office work which may require remaining stationary and working at a computer workstation for extended periods of time. At times files or boxes must be transported weighing up to 15lbs. It also includes fieldwork which may require driving to and walking through active job sites and/or undeveloped areas containing uneven and sloped surfaces. This role is a standard office role that requires remaining stationary for long periods. This position may operate in an indoor professional office environment and/or outdoor environment. Exposure to various and extreme weather conditions, temperature variations, loud noises and possible dangerous chemicals could be encountered.
