Responsible for the operation of heavy equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of storm conveyance system and appurtenances. Job Description: Transport, operate and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles and machines such as backhoes, walking excavators, front-end loaders, dump trucks, boom trucks, boom mowers, water transport, delivery trucks and other related equipment and machines used in the construction, maintenance and repair of Stormwater conveyance systems and their appurtenances. Perform manual labor tasks related to Stormwater conveyance system maintenance and repair as required. Perform roadway and right-of-way restoration relating to completed utility maintenance and repairs. Maintain equipment and vehicles as assigned. Complete and submit work orders relating to all work performed in a professional and timely fashion. Respond to emergency situations as required. Work Hours: 40 Hours Per Week - 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. About You
Minimum Qualifications: At least two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of one or more pieces of the equipment described herein. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and the ability to obtain an appropriate Class "A" Florida Commercial Driver's License prior to appointment. Experience in the transport of, operation of and maintenance of heavy equipment, vehicles and machines used in the maintenance and repair of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility systems. Preferred Qualifications: Written and hands-on courses in the operation of heavy equipment, such as backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks and sewer cleaning equipment. Job Competencies: Knowledge of current industry standards for the safe operation of heavy equipment, vehicles and specialized tools used in the maintenance and repair of water, wastewater, and stormwater utility systems and their appurtenances (backhoe, front-end loader, walking excavators, trencher, boring machines, tap machines, sewer cleaning machines and related equipment.) The ability to transport, operate and maintain various types of heavy equipment and vehicles. The ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions. Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
