Chief Marketing Officer – Professional Services Firm

Our client is a global professional services firm based in greater Detroit and is currently seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to serve as a member of the senior leadership team, guiding the marketing and brand identity of the firm as they work to ensure the firm is properly positioned in the marketplace in all market channels. The primary function of this position is to oversee the firm’s marketing team, overseeing the strategic initiatives and direction for how the brand is positioned competitively in all markets. This role is both operational in nature as well as strategic. Leveraging an extensive marketing background, this role will monitor market conditions and use insights to inform and guide the creation of relevant content in all market channels to create competitive advantage. Qualified candidates will have extensive experience in a similar professional services-based environment. Essential Functions of the Chief Marketing Officer – Professional Services Firm Manage a distributed team of marketing coordinators that support the firm’s global offices Develop, document, and implement efficiency-enabling processes and identify and vet tools and technologies that facilitate these processes Work with various stakeholders to maintain the client database Oversee the development, maintenance, and extension of the firm's brand identity Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all market channels Oversee the creation of high-quality, relevant content for various marketing channels (website, social media, whitepapers, etc.), ensuring that it aligns with the firm's messaging and resonates with the target audience Lead digital marketing efforts, including website content management, online advertising, social media, email campaigns, and search engine optimization Analyze digital marketing metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven decisions Use analytic tools to track KPIs, optimize marketing strategies, and provide regular reports to executive leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the firm's overall business objectives Identify target markets and client segments and create strategies to reach and engage them effectively Use market insights to inform marketing strategies and identify new opportunities Develop and manage the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, client needs, and competitor activities Collaborate with client-facing teams to understand client needs and expectations Develop and implement strategies to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty Plan and execute events, conferences, and seminars to enhance the firm's visibility and attract potential clients Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of the Chief Marketing Officer – Professional Services Firm Proven track record of serving as a leader of marketing in a professional services environment, in a construction, engineering or architectural environment Strategic thinker capable of driving marketing initiatives that contribute to the firm’s success in competitive markets Exceptionally high Emotional Quotient, ability to connect with people Ability to operate in a very high-paced and dynamic environment High ethical standards Process-oriented and highly organized Ability to put systems in place to ensure timely, accurate and meaningful reporting Demonstrated ability to develop and effectively implement a strategic vision Ability to mentor and connect with both junior and senior level team members Strong systems judgment and understanding of others Training and Experience Requirements for the Chief Marketing Officer – Professional Services Firm Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, business or related field Master’s degree preferred, but not required 15+ years of marketing and sales experience including 10 years of managerial experience Marketing experience in construction, engineering and/or architecture firms/environment Experience developing and growing a business development and marketing team Key Words:
