Overview
Director, Training B777 at Atlas Air. This full-time onsite role is based in Miami (MIA). It is an onsite-critical position requiring work in the Miami office Monday–Friday (except when traveling for Company business). The selected candidate must reside within regular commuting proximity to the Miami office. No commuting arrangements, per diem, or travel accommodations are provided for this position.
Responsibilities
Manage all B-777 crew training, including Initial, Transition, Requalification, Recurrent, Specialty Courses, and other training.
Determine subject matter, hours, and modules required for all training for Part 121 Subparts N and O, and Advanced Qualification Training (AQP), subject to regulatory approval.
Schedule and conduct training to meet contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
Manage all B-777 instructors and Check Airman when conducting training; verify instructor competence and standardization.
Ensure training policies and procedures are carried out in accordance with FAA regulations, company policies, and labor agreements.
Maintain professional liaison with internal departments, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Air Transport Association (IATA), Air Mobility Command (AMC), Boeing, Airlines for America (A4A), and other groups involved in B-777 training.
Coordinate FAA approval of B-777 training programs.
Develop, write, and edit B-777 portions of the Flight Operations Training Manual and the Training Center Standard Operating Procedures Manual; coordinate curriculum changes based on approved courseware; adjust programs per recommendations from the Technical Review Board.
Work with the B-777 Standards Captain to ensure aircraft-specific operational publications meet Atlas B-777 fleet needs.
Coordinate integration of human factors concepts and CRM/TEM into the B-777 training program.
Maintain safe operation through clear communication, audits, and reviews of training and checking events.
Continuously identify, evaluate, and implement key metrics to ensure compliance and improvement of the B-777 training program.
Identify and manage day-to-day B-777 instructor/training issues.
Coordinate procedures with other fleets to ensure consistency when appropriate.
Maintain relationships with manufacturers, other airlines, the FAA, and A4A regarding B-777 training issues.
Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, including onboarding and career development planning; monitor performance and provide timely feedback per the Performance Management Process.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President, Training.
Qualifications
Part 121 Air Carrier Training Experience
Ten (10) years of aviation experience
Five (5) years of Airline Management Experience or Three (3) years of relevant management experience
Experience in Part 121 airline operations
Bachelor’s degree preferred
FAA ATP certificate
Excellent motivation skills and ability to foster a teamwork environment
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a calm demeanor under high-pressure situations
Excellent leadership and critical thinking skills
Highly organized and self-managed with the ability to work with little or no direct supervision
Extensive knowledge of company policies and procedures
Ability to write manuals, training materials, and courseware for aircraft-specific and airline general requirements
Special Demands
Minimum 20% travel required
Must have no restrictions on domestic or international travel
Will require working evenings and weekends and on scheduled company holidays
General office conditions and general flight conditions in aircraft
Skills
Strong leadership, authority, and administrative capabilities to support Flight Operations training activities
Experience in effective people management, conflict resolution, and resource allocation
Strong interpersonal, analytical, administrative, technical, and communication skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to track many moving parts and identify irregularities timely
Ability to engage with and establish credibility at the senior/executive level
Analytical ability to evaluate data and information to make operational decisions
Oral and written communication skills
Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
Compensation Salary Range: $168,500 - $227,500
Note for Internal Flight Crew Candidates: If the successful candidate is an active line pilot on the Atlas Pilots’ Master Seniority List, compensation will be aligned with the Management Crew Member pay structure. Specific compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
