Role Overview
Macdonald & Company is exclusively retained to appoint a 'VP of Capital Strategy' in Baltimore, MD. Our client is a well-established real estate investment and development firm and will play a pivotal role in the firm’s continued growth. Reporting directly to the President, this individual will lead fundraising efforts and investor engagement across the platform, focused primarily through Registered Investment Advisor channels, pension funds, and institutional investors. This person will own the pursuit of new relationships, preparation and delivery of materials, manage relationships, orchestrate follow-up, and maintain high-touch stakeholder experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead initiatives aimed at raising capital through RIAs and other institutional channels.
Develop and execute fundraising strategies aligned with the firm’s product offerings and institutional investor appetite.
Investor Relationship Management
Leverage and expand relationships with RIAs to accelerate equity and capital commitments.
Act as a primary point of contact for investor inquiries, ensuring responsiveness, transparency, and high service standards.
Prepare & present investment materials, pitch decks, detailed financial models, and updates.
Coordinate with President, executives, and deal teams to deliver polished, timely materials.
Process & Tracking Ownership
Implement systems and trackers to monitor fundraising campaigns, investor touchpoints, timelines, commitments, and next steps.
Report on KPIs and progress to President and executive team.
Thought Leadership & Market Insight
Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging capital sources, and RIA market dynamics.
Align internal stakeholders by sharing market intelligence and positioning insights.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with the Finance, Legal, Development, Acquisitions, and Asset Management teams to support fundraising and capital markets initiatives.
Partner with the President for investor meetings, calls, and strategic outreach.
Qualifications & Experience
7–10 years in a capital or fundraising role – preferably in real estate, private equity, or alternative asset management.
A proven track record of raising capital through RIA networks and institutional channels.
RIA Network
Strong, established relationships with a national/regional RIA base, credible reputation as a trusted partner.
Communication & Presentation Skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication; adept at building compelling, narrative-driven investment recommendations and materials.
Comfortable leading presentations to sophisticated audiences (e.g., RIA principals, investment committees).
Project Management
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple live fundraising efforts.
Proactive, with strong follow-through and ability to pivot quickly.
Team Player & Strategist
Collaborative by nature; able to partner across functions and lead a variety of constituents.
