Codexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is hiring a Director, Business Development. The role may be based in Redwood City, CA or remote in the United States if not local to Redwood City.
About Codexis Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its CodeEvolver technology platform to discover, develop and enhance high-performance enzymes and other proteins. Our enzymes address challenges in small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. We are developing the ECO Synthesis platform to enable scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through enzymatic routes, delivering higher yields, reduced energy usage and waste, increased manufacturing efficiency, and enhanced sensitivity in genomic and diagnostic applications.
Responsibilities
Proactively engage in business opportunities by prospecting and calling on pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Identify and build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
Secure new business by understanding customer needs and creating a win-win value proposition.
Achieve sales targets by winning new business.
Understand the RNA market space, including market dynamics, trends, competitors, and FDA considerations.
Perform strategic and tactical account planning, management and execution.
Travel internationally and domestically to engage with customers as needed.
Essential Requirements
Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech CDMO services.
Minimum of 10 years in business development, sales or account management.
BS, BA, MS, or MA in business, marketing, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
Ideally, a network of contacts, positive relationships, and contracting experience.
Proficient in SFDC or other customer relationship tools.
Additional valuable experience
Located near pharma hubs (San Diego, Boston, Princeton).
Compensation and benefits The anticipated salary range for candidates in Redwood City is $195,000 to $244,000. The final salary offered will depend on factors such as relevant experience, education, and industry background. Codexis is a multi-state employer; salaries may vary by state where roles are performed.
