Our work focuses on challenges in small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis, with ongoing development of the ECO Synthesis platform to enable enzymatic manufacture of RNAi therapeutics. Codexis aims to improve yields, reduce energy use and waste, and increase efficiency in manufacturing, with applications in genomic and diagnostic areas. About the Opportunity:

The Director, Market Intelligence and Analytics will lead the development and execution of competitive and market insights within the nucleic acid therapeutics and small molecule pharmaceutical manufacturing space. The ideal candidate will have a strong business or investment analytics background with expertise in assessing market opportunities, competitor strategies, and industry trends. This role will translate insights into strategic recommendations and business forecasting for senior leadership to support Codexis’ corporate goals. What we’re looking for:

Strategic Market Opportunity Analysis: Own the market intelligence framework to evaluate the commercial potential of nucleic acid-based therapeutics and small molecule pharmaceutical manufacturing. Assess market size, growth potential, and key drivers (RNA therapeutics, gene editing, gene therapies). Market and Financial Forecasting: Model revenue forecasts, pricing strategies, and potential commercial impact for key technology development projects. Develop financial models to evaluate market potential, risks, and upside. Investment & Business Strategy Support: Provide data-driven analysis to inform investment, licensing, and acquisition decisions. Assess market opportunities and potential financial returns for in-licensing and out-licensing in nucleic acid therapeutics manufacturing. Industry Trends & Emerging Technologies: Monitor trends in biotech and healthcare, identifying breakthroughs in gene therapy, RNA therapeutics, and gene editing that affect competitive dynamics. Competitive Landscape & Benchmarking: Oversee competitive analysis of current and emerging players; profile pipelines, strategies, market share, partnerships, and financial strategies. Benchmark Codexis against peers. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, business development, and corporate strategy to translate insights into business strategies and identify strategic initiatives such as partnerships and licensing opportunities. Essential Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred, with professional experience in life sciences or biotechnology. At least 10 years of experience in business analysis, market research, or competitive intelligence in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries. Strong experience in financial analysis, market opportunity assessment, and/or investment banking, with proven ability to conduct market research, financial modeling, and benchmarking. Familiarity with nucleic acid therapeutics (RNA therapeutics, gene editing, gene therapy) is desirable but not required. Additional experience

Strong financial modeling and Excel modeling capabilities for forecasting and analysis. Experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI, and market research databases (e.g., Global Data, EvaluatePharma). Knowledge of regulatory and reimbursement landscapes a plus. Experience with due diligence, licensing deals, mergers & acquisitions in biotech, building business cases for investments. Salary and Benefits Codexis pay transparency: The anticipated salary range for candidates in Redwood City is

$168,000

to

$210,000 . Final offer depends on experience and qualifications.
