Overview The Tesla Mechanical Design Analysis Engineer is critical to the engineering design and development of new products at Tesla. In this role you simulate high-volume manufacturing and influence part and process design to deliver world class quality in all our products. The Mechanical Design Analysis Engineer is highly skilled in computational analysis as well as statistical data analysis techniques. Analysis Engineers have a broad responsibility that extends from the very smallest dimensional precision requirements of a battery cell through to the functional requirements of large castings and assemblies.

Responsibilities

Dimensional CAE simulation — Utilizing dedicated dimensional variation analysis software to analyze and communicate dimensional requirements within engineering teams and with a global manufacturing and supplier base

Full vehicle exposure — The Dimensional Analysis team gets involved in the mechanical design of most vehicle systems, from seats to battery packs and autopilot hardware

Design Cycle Experience — The team works on parallel design programs, so there is the opportunity to get involved in every stage of the design cycle from early design concept to production ramp-up

Cross functional Interaction — Through the Dimensional Engineering process, there are very broad interactions with other teams including Styling, Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and many more

GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) expertise — GD&T is a key skill that any mechanical designer should be fluent in. It will be one of the most useful assets throughout your career

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience

1+ years' experience in Computer Aided Engineering, dimensional engineering, metrology, or CAE role

Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a robust first-principles approach

Catia or similar CAD system experience

Comfortable with multi-variable capability analysis and statistical testing

Proficiency in 1D and 3D dimensional variation root cause analysis preferred

Familiarity with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 preferred

Expected Compensation

$92,720 - $206,520 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
