McKesson is seeking a visionary and technically strong Director of Engineering to lead the development of Glid Health, a next-generation AI-powered healthcare platform. This role will oversee both the strategic direction and tactical execution of software development, managing a cross-functional team of 20+ engineers across disciplines including backend, frontend, DevOps, and QA. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in distributed systems design, preferably in AWS cloud, and have a strong passion in AI/ML and healthcare technology. This role is critical to ensuring the scalability, reliability, and innovation of our platform as we expand our impact in the healthcare space. Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with Glid Health’s product vision and business goals. Collaborate with leadership to shape product roadmaps, priorities, and timelines. Analyze external technology trends to inform platform evolution and strategic decisions. Translate organizational objectives into functional goals and technical execution plans. Maintain a lean and agile platform that enables rapid development, experimentation, and continuous delivery. Team Management

Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of engineering staff. Product Development

Oversee the end-to-end development of Glid Health’s platform, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Drive integration of AI/ML models into clinical and financial workflows, including predictive analytics and cost forecasting. Collaborate with Product, Design, and Clinical teams to align engineering output with user needs. Technical Oversight

Provide architectural guidance for distributed systems in AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance. Lead API development strategy and implementation across services. Establish and enforce coding standards, development best practices, and technical documentation. Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and data privacy standards. Operational Excellence

Optimize engineering processes to improve velocity, quality, and reliability. Manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively. Monitor and report on key engineering metrics and KPIs. Innovation & Growth

Explore and integrate emerging technologies to enhance platform capabilities. Champion the use of AI/ML to drive intelligent automation and decision support. Identify opportunities to integrate with internal and external systems, and improve patient outcomes and provider efficiency through technology. Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Qualifications

Degree or equivalent experience 12+ years of professional experience in software engineering 4+ years in engineering leadership roles, preferably in health tech or regulated industries Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred) Experience with API development Familiarity with healthcare claims processing and regulatory compliance is a plus Experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems is a plus Technical Skills

Cloud-native architecture, microservices, and container orchestration Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and frameworks Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA) Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and agile methodologies Leadership & Communication

Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and drive strategic initiatives Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Working Conditions
