Director Human Resources - Distribution Centers
at Burlington Stores, Inc. is seeking a strategic HR leader for the West Coast Distribution Centers. The Director of HR is a strategic partner within the business who helps leaders optimize people, strategy, structure, and processes while supporting Burlington's culture and Core Values. The role partners with business leaders to resolve associate relations issues with a focus on consistency in resolution across the organization and influences leadership development through coaching and talent elevation.
The Director of HR will coach, consult, and advise leaders on existing HR programs and services and will partner with HR COEs including HR operations; Talent Acquisition; Compensation; Benefits; and Learning and Development. This role drives talent management in the areas of succession planning, performance management, employee relations, organizational development, and strategic programs.
Responsibilities
Positively communicate and demonstrate the company’s Core Values by building trust and respect among peers and associates, developing strong teams and partnerships, and driving results.
Lead the DC HR team, including HR Managers, Specialists, and Coordinators.
Provide guidance and input regarding HR strategies that support the vision, culture, and business needs of the organization.
Partner with business leaders to lead and drive the execution of all HR programs.
Act as the interface between HR functional specialists and DC partners to proactively support and add value in achieving business objectives.
Build trusting consultative relationships with associates and leaders.
Support business teams in establishing and executing an effective talent strategy (short and long term) in partnership with Talent Acquisition.
Inspire, coach, and influence a coaching culture to improve the quality and frequency of developmental feedback and the overall associate experience.
Coach business leaders in managing engagement survey results and developing actionable plans to improve engagement.
Drive the performance management program to ensure clear expectations and timely, policy-driven evaluations.
Handle associate relations issues, including investigating complaints, resolving conflicts, and advising actions to leadership.
Partner with internal and external legal counsel as needed for legal actions or complaints; attend mediations, arbitrations, and related proceedings as necessary.
Leverage data analysis to identify issues and develop plans to address them and minimize disruption.
Identify opportunities to move the business forward and develop processes and programs to support growth with leaders.
Lead a team of 3–4 direct reports and up to 10 indirect reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
PHR/SPHR certification (preferred).
7+ years of HR leadership experience.
3+ years of retail industry or distribution center experience (preferred).
Expertise in all aspects of Human Resources Management.
Demonstrated ability to influence teams, build relationships, and flex style to interact with associates effectively.
Ability to influence all levels of leadership.
High integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
Ability to coach, support, and develop others.
Ability to prioritize demanding work and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with urgency.
Strong business acumen.
Knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and regulations (EEO, wage and hour, benefits, leave policies and practices).
Ability to conduct investigations, train staff, and maintain organized documentation.
Strong communications and operating instincts, strategic thinking, and sound business judgment; ability to achieve goals leveraging HR expertise.
Ability to utilize tools (Workday) to leverage data.
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Willingness to travel to assigned local DC buildings daily and to travel to corporate headquarters in Burlington, NJ quarterly.
Compensation
Base pay range: $135,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr.
Location California — San Bernardino; 570 East Mill Street, 92408. Additional location: California — Redlands.
