Job Summary The Area Director, Human Resources III (ADHR) provides strategic HR generalist support to all field locations, leaders, and associates within their designated area. The ADHR offers proactive support, advice, and solutions to business leaders on people‑related matters, with a focus on Associate Relations. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President Human Resources (AVP HR) and guided by the HR Centers of Excellence (COE) teams, the ADHR works with field and regional leaders to implement and manage HR programs, plans, and policies across multiple cities or states, traveling up to 40% of the time as needed.

Expected Contributions Team Leadership

Oversee, lead, manage, develop, and coach field HR leaders to support day‑to‑day HR needs.

Evaluate the HR team for continual improvement in efficiency and effectiveness while providing personal and professional growth opportunities.

Strategic HR Support

Provides strategic and generalist HR support to regional and site teams.

Proactively identifies HR management needs, devises and implements strategies for associate and business challenges.

Acts as an HR business partner and internal consultant to managers and associates at all levels, guiding through a full range of HR support.

Fosters continuous improvement through process analysis, monitoring effectiveness, and recommending changes.

Assists with division HR projects and initiatives from inception to completion.

Talent Acquisition

Partners with Talent Acquisition to review and ensure staffing plans and programs identify and attract talent.

Champions the associate onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition.

Talent Management

Collaborates with Talent Management team on associate training and education programs, including leadership training needs.

Consults on Engagement Survey management across disciplines.

Leads execution of Human Capital Review process in partnership with Talent Manager.

Partners with HR leaders on talent development, performance coaching, succession management.

Drives execution of the Leadership Performance Process.

Manages job elimination and separation process, providing business justification and risk assessment.

Assists COEs in designing, developing, and implementing division and discipline initiatives.

Identifies and plans training and development needs with Talent Manager and strategic training reps.

Compensation

Collaborates with Compensation team to ensure internal and external pay equity.

Supports implementation of compensation programs, benefits, and incentive plans.

Partners with Compensation COEs for market strategic planning and analysis.

Responds to concerns regarding employment agreements, commission schedules, and compensation plans.

Monitors compensation trending in the area and provides feedback.

Associate Relations

Partners with site leadership for associate relations service delivery.

Engages leaders and promotes workplace culture.

Advises and coaches leaders on mitigating people risk.

Provides consultation for positive work environment alongside field HR managers.

Serves as SME and escalation point for complex associate relations issues.

Manages associate relations investigations with specialized corporate departments.

Responds to third‑party complaints with guidance from Senior Director and Legal.

Monitors and communicates Engagement Survey scores and supports action plans.

Locations with Union Representation

Interprets collective bargaining agreements and ensures leadership is educated on procedures.

Adheres to guidelines under local CBA.

Consults with Senior Director on union matters.

Policies & Procedures

Communicates HR policies and procedures across all levels.

Ensures compliance to HR policies per federal, state, and Marriott Vacations Worldwide regulations (audits, tracking, data review).

Develops, reviews, and monitors systems, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and other regulations.

Anticipates, guides, and assesses risk on associate relations decisions to ensure consistency and risk limitation.

Candidate Profile Education

Four‑year bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or Human Resources Management preferred.

Experience

At least ten years of progressive generalist experience in a management role.

Experience in multi‑unit and/or multi‑state environment preferred.

Experience in all aspects of HR: associate relations, compensation & benefits, talent acquisition, training, organizational development, diversity (or specialist role).

Preference for experience in vacation ownership, hospitality or sales/marketing.

PHR/SPHR or SHRM‑CP/SCP certification preferred.

Ability to travel up to 40% as needed.

Pay range: $145k - $170k annually
