Position Summary: The Program Director II will play a pivotal role in advancing UAB Medicine's mission by identifying and fostering opportunities in emerging areas of strategic importance, particularly in healthcare innovation, digital transformation, and novel medical technologies. This individual will lead initiatives to explore cutting-edge possibilities, build impactful relationships, and enhance the visibility of high-potential ventures that align with institutional goals.

Directs operations of a programmatic function. Operates with a high degree of independence. Responsible for program development, content and administration. Establishes program objectives, manages programmatic fiscal activities, supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities and may require grant writing and/or other ability to secure program funding. Prepares various reports for program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Scouting and Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify internal and external individuals, organizations, and initiatives operating in emerging domains of strategic value to UAB Medicine. Conduct future scanning to explore innovative opportunities that may influence or extend beyond the healthcare landscape.

Relationship Management and Pipeline Development: Cultivate and maintain a robust network of collaborators, stakeholders, and partners. Build a pipeline of strategic opportunities and foster long-term relationships to support institutional growth.

Representation and Visibility: Serve as a representative of UAB Medicine in entrepreneurial and economic development communities, focusing on local and regional impact. Elevate high-potential opportunities to ensure strategic visibility within key circles of influence.

Programmatic Leadership and Coordination: Oversee the organization of monthly Grand Rounds and educational presentations, ensuring topics align with institutional priorities and emerging medical trends. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to scope and develop program content.

Outreach and Education: Support outreach efforts promoting the MS in Healthcare Innovation program and other initiatives focused on emerging healthcare technologies, including AI. Mentor students and provide instructional support to foster a dynamic and engaging educational environment.

Development and Collaboration: Develop appropriate pathways for transitioning identified opportunities into actionable projects or partnerships. Ensure seamless collaboration with relevant departments and stakeholders to drive institutional impact.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $60,835 - $98,855

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
