Senior Manager, Tax – Indirect. Location: Bentonville, AR. Walmart, the Fortune 1, is seeking experienced and motivated Senior Managers to join our Indirect Tax team. As a Senior Manager within Indirect Tax, you will take ownership of a core area within one of our key functional groups—supporting enterprise goals through technical leadership, operational execution, and cross-functional partnership. Opportunities are available in the following areas: Tax Technology & Data
Drive technology initiatives to enhance tax data processes and systems, working across departments to implement scalable, compliant solutions. Perform data research and analysis across large financial datasets; resolve data quality issues and support tax reporting. Manage and support tax technology projects—defining requirements, creating timelines, and deploying tools that improve tax operations. Collaborate with global tax teams to align technology solutions with enterprise needs and deliver training on new systems and processes. Indirect Tax Compliance
Support the execution of Walmart’s U.S. transaction tax compliance processes—including return preparation, tax accounting, financial close, and notice resolution. Collaborate across business lines and functions (including Sales Tax Ops, Audit, and Tax Tech) to enhance reporting accuracy, governance, and end-to-end compliance. Contribute to new business launches by implementing effective reporting and accounting controls. Ensure proper licensing, support audit readiness, and mentor junior team members. Identify and implement process improvements that support scale, quality, and efficiency across compliance activities. Indirect Audit & Controversy
Oversee audit defense strategies and manage indirect tax controversies across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions. Drive risk mitigation strategies, improve audit readiness, and establish strong external relationships with tax authorities. Lead data analytics and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen documentation, transparency, and issue resolution processes. Credits & Incentives
Build relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business, including retail operations, supply chain, and manufacturing. Develop strategic plans to negotiate and secure tax incentives aligned with capital investment timelines. Prepare documentation and financial models to support tax incentive negotiations and present findings to Executive Leadership. Manage the full lifecycle of tax incentive projects, ensuring ongoing compliance and maximizing benefits. Report regularly to business stakeholders on realized and projected savings from secured incentives. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area. 1 year supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications
Leading a cross-functional team License to practice law in at least one state J.D., Masters: Accounting Masters: Business Masters: Economics Masters: Finance Masters: Law Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Certificate Location

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Benefits include health coverage, 401(k), stock purchase, life insurance, and PTO/PPTO with terms per job classification and length of employment.
