We are conducting an executive search for a

Director of Information Technology

on behalf of a multi-state private company operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated distribution environment. The company is committed to operational excellence, innovation, and leveraging technology to drive business growth and efficiency. The Director will oversee all technology operations, ensuring systems, infrastructure, and data capabilities align with business strategy. This hands-on leader will guide digital transformation initiatives, modernize mission-critical systems including ERP, CRM, and warehouse management platforms, and lead a high-performing IT team focused on security, data governance, and operational performance. Responsibilities

Leadership

Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that supports long-term business objectives and growth. Act as a trusted member of the leadership team, advising on technology investments, digital trends, and innovation opportunities. Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives, including ERP modernization, CRM optimization, and supply chain systems evolution. Prioritize and manage technology investments based on ROI, business impact, and scalability.

Technology Operations & Infrastructure

Oversee secure, reliable, and cost-effective IT infrastructure (cloud and on-premises). Ensure high availability of mission-critical systems including order processing, inventory management, logistics, and distribution. Develop and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and cybersecurity programs. Manage IT operating and capital budgets, optimizing spend across licensing, support, hardware, and vendor services. Remain current with emerging technologies and pursue advancements to support business goals. Lead cross-functional projects related to business technologies and organizational IT efforts.

Data & Analytics

Establish and execute a company-wide data strategy ensuring integrity, accessibility, and actionable insights. Lead enterprise data integration across ERP, CRM, WMS, WCS, and DSD systems. Drive adoption of business intelligence tools and self-service reporting capabilities. Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing IT team. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and service excellence. Manage vendor relationships, ensuring contract compliance and value delivery. Define and track KPIs for IT effectiveness, responsiveness, and uptime.

Compliance & Security

Ensure IT systems and practices comply with applicable regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA). Serve as the primary executive responsible for technology risk management, security audits, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 15+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role. Proven success in digital transformation, ERP/WMS implementations, and cloud migrations Deep understanding of IT systems in distribution, logistics, or supply chain-intensive industries Strong technical knowledge across ERP, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, data platforms, and infrastructure operations Hands-on problem-solving and execution skills in complex operational environments Vendor management, contract negotiation, and IT budget oversight expertise Experience with cybersecurity, risk governance, compliance programs, and change management. Data-driven decision-making and business intelligence tool expertise Strategic vision with the ability to translate plans into actionable initiatives.
